Trash & Recycling Pickup

Trash and recycling will be collected AT THE CURB once each week. All residents of the City of Orrville will be serviced on THURSDAYS.  Please place wheeled cans, bags and bundles at curbside by 6:30 am, but not before 6 pm the prior evening.  Curbside refers to that portion of right of way adjacent to the paved or traveled city roadway.  Please keep a 3 foot  distance between your cans.

LARGE ITEMS OR BULK PICK UP:  Contact Kimble for ANY large items or bulk items. These must be scheduled with Kimble beginning Feb. 2, 2024. Call 1-800-201-0005 to schedule a large item or bulk pick up.

•    Bulk items include stoves, hot water heaters (water removed), washers, dryers, furniture, chairs and carpet ( 4 feet in length and tied).
•    All mattresses, box springs and upholstered furniture MUST be wrapped and sealed in plastic.
•    Appliances containing Freon must have the Freon removed and unit tagged by a qualified technician. Please keep bulk items three feet away from your cart.

To use the carts, simply place your household solid waste into the dark green Kimble supplied solid waste cart and place your loose (no need to bag) recyclable materials into the bright green Kimble supplied recycle cart. On your collection day, pull both your solid waste and recycle carts within 2-3 feet of the street with the lid openings facing the street. The carts should be at least 3 feet from one another and other objects such as parked cars, mailboxes, trees, other trash bags, personal container or bulky trash items. Though solid waste and recycling services are provided weekly, it is only necessary to place your carts at the curb when they are full.

96-gallon Cart Service - Weekly refuse service includes the contents of your dark green 96-gallon solid waste cart plus up to eight (8) additional 30-gallon bags or cans. The additional 30-gallon bags/cans must weigh less than 40 pounds and have enough strength to maintain their integrity when lifted from the top. Cardboard boxes, 55-gallon drums, or barrels cannot be used as waste receptacles. Bagged leaves or bundled yard waste will be included in the additional bags or cans allowed but must not exceed 40 pounds or 4 feet in length.

KEY COMPONENTS OF THE RECYCLING PROGRAM
65-gallon Recycling Cart - Weekly recycle service includes the collection of your 65-gallon recycle cart which may include cardboard, steel cans, aluminum cans, newspapers, office paper, junk mail, glass bottles, and plastic bottles (see Plastics Recycled below). Recycle service will occur on the same day as trash collection. Please do not use your recycle cart for trash. Recycle carts containing refuse or recyclable items that are contaminated with food, liquids or other nonrecyclable materials will not be emptied and will be tagged to notify the resident of improper use. Contaminating your recycle cart can damage other recyclables during the sorting process. As a result, we ask you to be conservative in your decision to recycle. When in doubt throw it out!
Plastics Recycled - Most plastic products are labeled on the bottom with a recycling symbol consisting of arrows that cycle clockwise to form a rounded triangle and enclosing the number 1 or 2. Any clean and empty plastic bottles or jugs labeled in this fashion can be included for recycling. Plastic items not acceptable include plastic bags, shrink wrap, Styrofoam, toys, motor oil and antifreeze containers. There is a tremendous amount of material which can be diverted from your solid waste cart to your 65-gallon recycling cart. Recycling a ton of plastic saves the energy equivalent of 1,500 gallons of gasoline!
Single Stream Recycling - Do not bundle or bag your newspapers, cardboard, or any other materials separately. All recyclable materials can be mixed together in the recycle cart as a "single stream" of recyclable material. The individual components of the mixed recyclables or "single stream" will be segregated and prepared for market at Kimble's automated recycle facility. See the enclosed list of all the items which can be placed in the recycle cart to be recovered and returned to markets.

IF YOU MOVE, please leave your wheeled trash and recycling cans at the house you are leaving.  Each trash and recycling can has a serial number stamped on the front of the can, and each can is assigned to a specific address.  If cans are lost, Kimbles may want to invoice the property owner to replace them.

MATTRESSES, BOX SPRINGS and UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE:  It is now mandatory that all mattresses, box springs, and upholstered furniture be fully enclosed/wrapped in plastic and fully taped closed due to possible bed bug infestation.  City Hall is selling plastic mattresses bags for $9.00 King/Queen size and $7.00 for Full/Twin size, or you can use/purchase your own plastic for this use.

MISSED TRASH:  If your trash or recycling is missed, please contact City Hall on Thursday at 330-684-5001.  We can see if they have not yet been through your neighborhood   Kimbles are no longer in town on Fridays to pick up missed locations.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE:  The following holidays will be observed by Kimbles:  New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. If a holiday falls on a weekday before or on your collection day, your trash will be collected one day late.  If the holiday falls after your collection day or on a weekend, your pickup schedule will not be affected. View holiday schedule at the link at the bottom of this page.

Customers who have signed up for electric service through Orrville Utilities and who reside within the City limits are automatically enrolled in trash pickup and recycling services.
