Beginning the week of September 19th, representatives from Duke’s Root Control, Inc. (“Dukes”) will be in your area for the purpose of evaluating the condition of the sanitary sewer system and private sewer service laterals. Crews will be evaluating the sewer mains and laterals through smoke testing, which is a process in which non-toxic, non-flammable, imitation, liquid smoke is pressurized through the sewer mains.  This smoke is not harmful to people or pets, but as a precaution pets should be moved to a room without plumbing fixtures to keep them calm.  A typical test last 30 to 45 minutes and the smoke will dissipate quickly.  

Through this testing defects within the system are noted for repair by the crews. The pink door tags that Dukes will be placing on your door two to three days prior to the test, gives more insight on the process and what you can do to prepare. You do not need to be present for the test.

This method of testing may require representatives from Dukes to access manholes located within the Right-of-Way and/or utility easements, including those on private property  (but within the utility easement). Crews may be noting defects around your property. Smoke Testing does not impact any operation of the sewer and there will be no disruption of service at any point. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. All Dukes representatives will have identification badges and will be wearing company uniforms at all times.

Orrville residents: Regular compost disposal and leaf drop off is available until Saturday, October 29th at our compost center, located on Apple Avenue. Hours: Wednesday 7:15 a.m.-11:15 a.m., and 12:15 p.m.-3:15 p.m.

Saturday 8:00 a.m. -12 p.m.

Trash Delayed ,

Due to the Labor Day holiday on September 5, 2022, trash and recycling pick up will be delayed by one day.  Please have both cans to the curb before 6:30 AM on Friday, September 9.  Remember to keep 3 ft distance between your cans for the Kimble vehicle arms to pick up and empty your cans.

Orrville City Hall doors will be open at 5 a.m. on November 1st as we begin taking 2023 reservations for the halls and picnic pavilions.  Reservations will be taken on a first come, first serve basis at City Hall’s Information Desk, 207 North Main Street, Orrville, OH 44667. Those waiting in line will be accommodated first.  Payment is due at time of reservation. Cash, check, Visa, Discover or MasterCard are accepted. The City authorized a new trash contract with Kimble Recycling & Disposal effective January 1, 2021. There are several upcoming changes that will effect all Orrville customers as follows:

  • The monthly rates are being increased to $15.90 per month. The monthly rate has remained the same for the past five years. The new rate will also remain in effect for five years.
  • There will no longer be a reduced senior citizen rate available.
  • The City's collection date remains on THURSDAY; however, all trash must be set out to the curb by 6:30 am, which is a change.
