Effective January 1, 2007, the rate for senior citizens is $8.08 per month. An application form must be completed and returned to the Safety-Service Department with proof of age.

CITY ORDINANCES

Ordinance 931.04 prohibits putting your garbage, rubbish or household rubbish out at curbside prior to 6 p.m. on the day preceding your scheduled pickup. If you are going to be away, try to make arrangements with a friend or neighbor to put it out for you. However, your garbage and rubbish must be at the curb prior to 7 a.m. on your regular trash day in order to guarantee pickup. Another section of this ordinance requires each household to put this garbage and rubbish out for collection each week. This is necessary so that rodents are not attracted. Garbage is to be placed at the curb in front of your residence unless other arrangements are approved by the Safety-Service Department.

It has come to our attention that some garbage and rubbish is being brought into the City and placed at curbline along with residents' garbage and rubbish, or placed into privately-owned dumpsters or public trash cans. This practice is unlawful and violators will be prosecuted.

The City provides a mandatory curbside recycling service. Additional information can be obtained by calling City Hall at 330-684-5004.
